Abstract
We now have a better understanding of how readers are persuaded by statistics, graphs and other data displays, such as infographics.
Data have found an equal position alongside words and images as a source of evidence and storytelling in many forms of publication. This includes evaluations and analyses, which involve often large amounts of data about the pre-existing situation, interventions and their impacts. Well-designed data visuals do more than support text – they engage readers’ visuospatial mind and its ability to automatically interpret differences, patterns and changes over time.
This session will discuss user-friendly guidelines for, and examples of, successful data visualisation and data analysis.
